Apparently it has been pulled off the shelves in the USA!

My mum has it every morning and her supply from the last trip to Down Under is vanishing...

And she's starting to get really sad.

Plus I think she's gonna steal my jar now.

Yes I like it too, stop judging.

    It's in my blood.

    ANYway...

Are there any Aussies out there who know where to still find our crumpet ambrosia?

    Cruel FDA...

I have seen it at Mollie Stone's but it's been a while since I've been in.

I think, oddly enough, that You Say Tomato on California near Polk might have it.

I think I've also seen it at Cost Plus in the past.

Australia Fair has the 455g jar for $11.95. You Say Tomato only has the 175g jar for around 5 bucks. Cost Plus Fisherman's Wharf used to have it, but they now don't stock it.

Also, BevMo on Van Ness has 4-5 varieties of Coopers beer.

Most Brit shops have it (i.e. Sunrise Grocery - actually a liquor store).  You should also  be able to get it at Cost Plus/World Market.

Oh and as far as I could find, large companies like Mollie Stone's don't have it anymore.  It seems so arbitrary... it is fortified with a vitamin... like cereal... but FDA says that spread can't be fortified with it... yet people take airborne and loads of other supplements with far more substances in them.

Oh well!  Hopefully this won't get more ridiculous!

Emile - the first reply with a link to Snopes debunked the whole FDA thing as a hoax!

Omid... it is not fully a hoax.  Go see for yourself... it used to be sold at several grocery stores and now it is nowhere to be found (except small stores and online.) Don't believe everything you read without investigating!  The "hoax" part refers to importing - you can still legally import it in your suitcase... some people said you could not and that isn't true.  There still is something going on, which forces stores to stop selling it... either that or there are no more Aussies here and no one wants to carry it, which I doubt.

Aaron -- I am positive that they would have it -- if they have it anywhere in this country -- at Haig's Delicatessen. They not only have a great middle eastern deli, they've got comfort foods from EVERYWHERE, country by country. Your English candies, Dutch pofferjies, Patak's vindaloo paste....It's amazing. Give 'em a call. yelp.com/biz/haigs-delic…

Good luck and best to your mum.
